Travel First Aid Kit Must-Haves (COVID-19 Edition)

Whether you’re traveling to a different town, state, or country, it’s always good to be prepared for unexpected emergencies. If you’re out and about in an area you’re unfamiliar with, and you or someone you know gets hurt, will you have what you need to help? We don’t always think about first aid kits. I mean, if you need a bandaid, you’ll just stop off at the nearest drug store, right? Well, in the age of COVID-19 and social distancing, health precautions are now more important than ever.

Many states have serious travel restrictions in place right now, but if you are traveling, you’re probably wondering what you should bring with you. Make sure that you pack these items.

Face Coverings

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has called on all Americans to wear cloth face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19; many states have made face coverings mandatory in public settings. In addition to controlling the spread of infection, a growing body of evidence suggests that masks also help protect the individuals wearing them.

Disinfectant Wipes / Spray

Covid-19 virus can linger on high-touch surfaces, like at airports, hotel guest rooms, public restrooms, and gas stations; therefore, you should bring a sufficient supply of sanitizing wipes, or a spray bottle of alcohol solution containing at least 70% alcohol, or another Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-approved disinfectant.

Hand Sanitizer

It’s been stated over and over that to prevent the spread of COVID-19, you should avoid touching your face, and wash your hands often. Since not all of us can access running water and soap, it pays to have  bottles of hand sanitizer (containing at least 60% alcohol) or a supply of wipes on hand.

Disposable Gloves

When wiping things like door handles or faucets down, you should always wear disposable gloves. Before you put the gloves on, make sure you wash your hands! While wearing and using the gloves, remember to avoid touching your face.
